Carnival is 50 per cent of the market of the Asian cruise for 2017

The largest the world, Carnival Corporation cruise company, seeks a share of 50 percent for 2017 Asian cruise market and hope to settle in Southeast Asia as in the Caribbean of the East, with Singapore as a hub.

The company opened its regional antenna Carnival Asia to Singapore hoping that Asia cruises market would increase to 3.7 million passengers in 2017, while 1.5 million of our days.

Pier Luigi Foschi, Chairman and Chief Executive of Carnival Asia, said only: "we would like that our share of the Asian market is the same as our share of the world market, which is 50 percent. ''

He also indicated that the majority of cruise lines Asia countries today put the sailing to Alaska or Europe rather than in Asia, but Carnival hope of change by developing the Asian cruise at the regional level.

In other parts of the world, particularly in the Caribbean and Central America, Carnival operates cruise terminals and opens new destinations. There are a number of examples where they (the destinations or ports) got 40 to 50 million dollars to start from scratch, and isolated beaches and Islands have been transformed into cruise ship destinations by us even. Other cruise companies did this also in these places. If they see that we have a presence here and commit resources here, I'm sure they will follow suit and this is how we can change the situation ", said Foschi.".

"But it won't be easy and it will take years. We work with Governments. We are here to show the example, commit capital and find supporters of the public and private sectors to develop new destinations in Southeast Asia, which is our main goal.  »

While Carnival currently has 101 ships, only four are based in Singapore, the latest being the Costa Atlantica and the Sapphire Princess.

The relocation of Carnival to Singapore will be obviously beneficial for the industry as a whole, more regional investment means more votes for cruising among all other modes of travel available.
